Isn't she beautiful?
That's my Grandmother on my Mom's side. Catherine Grace McAdams Buss. She was the most influential person on my life thus far. She grew up in a family of 8 children, and before she passed away it was her and her sister Rosie that were left.
She's the one who taught me what it was like to be Catholic. More importantly, what it was like to be a STRONG woman.
She was married at a somewhat young age, to her high school sweetheart, and while pregnant with my uncle Mike her husband died in a fire at work she was left widowed and alone. Barely a year later she met my Grandfather, who fell in love with her and her son. They went on to have 3 children of their own. My uncle Danny, Aunt Barb and my Mom, Nancy.
When my uncle Danny was 10, he passed away from kidney Cancer, and around that time they found out my mom was deaf. I'm not saying it's a "bad" thing to have a deaf child, but what more could this woman take on in her young life?
My Grandma Catherine Buss, is my idol because, she was so strong, she hardly ever cried in front of anyone, but you know as soon as the doors closed, she would allow herself to feel emotions. She gave and gave of her heart like no other woman I've ever met/seen/heard of, other than Mother Teresa
She died a week after my Grandfather after their car accident. That whole week she was in the hospital she was so strong, and I'm sure she knew she was going to die, and somehow I knew it too.
If I am nothing else in my life, I would want to be my Grandmother's Granddaughter. I'd be happy knowing that I died living in her footsteps! I believe strongly that she is my guardian angel, and dealing with life at this moment, I know she's around here somewhere, watching over me. Guiding me to Mr. Right, the right job, the right friends, and the right choices...someday it will all come into play for me. Until that day, I'm my Grandmother's Granddaughter, and that's alright with me! :)
